Pudacuo National Park

　　Pudacuo National Park is the first national park in mainland China and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. Located in the heart of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it covers an area of 601.1 square kilometers and consists of two parts: the Bitahai Nature Reserve, an internationally important wetland, and the Shudu Lake scenic area in the Haba section of the Three Parallel Rivers. The name "Pudacuo" originates from a Sanskrit classic in Tibetan Buddhism, meaning a boat that ferries all beings to the other shore of the sea of suffering.

　　The park is 22 kilometers from Shangri-La city and belongs to the subalpine cold temperate coniferous forest vegetation zone. The main vegetation types are four native forest communities: spruce, fir, giant sequoia, and high mountain pine. The park is rich in animal and plant resources. There are 171 families, 568 genera, and 2275 species of seed plants. The abundant species, their genetic diversity, and the diversity of ecological vegetation types showcase Pudacuo's vibrant life force. There are as many as 268 animal species, including the Zhongdian leaf-nosed fish (Acrossocheilus paradoxus), black bear, clouded leopard, golden cat, red panda, otter, black-necked crane, blood pheasant, and grey crane, making it an ideal base for scientific research and investigation.

　　Along the wooden boardwalk by the lake, you can have close contact with the primeval forest, enjoying the cheerful sounds of birds and insects, getting up close with squirrels, and experiencing the loveliness and spirituality of wildlife, feeling the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature; the natural oxygen bar takes you into a clear realm, allowing your thoughts to fly freely; the colorful and multi-layered autumn scenery is an ideal home for photography enthusiasts and the shooting of numerous film and television works.
