National customs

In our national park, in addition to many precious species, there are also many traditional ethnic cultures. Many ethnic groups and religions coexist here. The Tachie area is home to Tibetan, Naxi (including the Marima people, a branch of the Naxi), Lisu, Han, and Bai ethnic groups. Tibetan Buddhism, Catholicism, Taoism, and the oldest Bon religion are practiced here. The coexistence of multiple ethnic groups and religions stems from Weixi's unique geographical environment. The name Weixi originally comes from "connecting with Tibet," signifying a link between inland areas and Tibet. It is also a watershed for the settlements of ethnic minorities. The east is predominantly Naxi, the west Lisu, the south Bai, and the east Tibetan.
